TitleEducation Insights: Managing reading lists and ensuring best copyright practice in teaching
OverviewThis session will cover how to make changes to your reading list, helping to ensure that students have access to the resources they need to support their learning on your module. It will also look at how to find suitable online resources for your teaching and highlight the digitisation service the Library offers to make content available online. Following this, the blanket copyright licences the University has access to will be introduced, and there will be explanation as to how these licences can help to support your teaching. Copyright exceptions focusing on teaching will also be briefly explored, with a focus on ensuring your students are restricted as little as possible in their reading material. Learning outcomes By the end of the session, participants will have: 1. Knowledge of how to update reading lists and where to go for support. 2. Knowledge of how to link reading lists to Moodle pages. 3. A better understanding on how to find online resources for teaching and the library’s digitisation service. 4. A better understanding of how copyright exceptions and blanket copyright licences can be utilised in teaching. Who should attend? Academic staff who are responsible for curating, managing, and/or updating reading lists for modules. This training will take place via Zoom.
