TitleCommittee Management Network - Summer Term Session
CategoryProfessional Development
OverviewAre you the key person responsible for capturing a committee’s crucial decisions and discussions? Do you aspire to refine and elevate your committee servicing skills? Your opportunity is here! Join our Committee Management Network - a collaborative space designed to share best practices, enhance effectiveness, and foster meaningful contributions. Whether you're an experienced professional or newly engaging in committee administration, this Network empowers you to navigate challenges and maximise impact. As the University progresses through organisational change, new opportunities may emerge for you to undertake committee servicing or aspects of administration within working groups, advisory groups, committees, and boards. Now is the time to connect, learn, and contribute to a thriving community of professionals. Our Summer Term CMN session will cover: - The University’s Committee Structure – Council, Senate, University Steering Group. - Committee Servicing – the roles and responsibilities of a committee secretary. - Information Governance - general housekeeping, document archiving, and the role of the Information Assurance team. - Committee Management Resources – helpful guides and the Committee portal. - Discussion Topic – use of Artificial Intelligence as a collaborative partner to committee servicing. This session provides learning and development opportunities for committee secretaries to share their knowledge, skills, and expertise. We have introduced a ‘discussion topic’ to the sessions. The topic for the Summer Term will relate to the use of Artificial Intelligence - please bring any thoughts and experiences you have on how/if you have utilised this tool. The event will be fully remote. The recording of the session will be shared with those unable to attend. Please note that when you sign up to CMN events, you will automatically be subscribed to the CMN and Information Champions Network email distribution groups – as these are the channels through which important updates will be communicated. Subscription preferences can be changed at any time, via https://www1.essex.ac.uk/it/groups-lists/mailinglists/.
