This two-day course is a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of oral history. It provides both a practical start and also a discussion of the life history and oral history approaches to social research and the problems in the interpretation of such interviews. It addresses theoretical and methodological issues such as subjectivity and the unconscious, ethics, and the narrative construction of oral testimony. For this first time it will review some latest developments around the globe in the field of oral history.

This course will take place from 24-25 March.
