As an undergraduate student, UROP gives you a unique opportunity to find out what goes on behind the scenes in academia. You will gain invaluable experience that will enhance your CV and skills to help with your final year dissertation or project.

UROP or the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme is our placement scheme specifically for undergraduate students from the University of Essex to become research assistants and become part of the academic community here at Essex.

UROP students will have the opportunity to assist in carrying out research alongside established academics and learn first-hand what being a researcher really means.

Successful applicants will normally have achieved an average of 60% in their first year modules. The placement can be completed in either term time or vacation time (dependent on year of study).
