COVID-19 Update

With effect from the 21st March 2020, the majority of university staff will be working remotely. You will still be able to make purchases/payments through the Online Store and The Essentials Shop, but it may take longer than usual to be able to dispatch goods, and to reply to specific queries.

Meal plans will be continued to be delivered to accommodation. All other items purchased from 30th September onwards will be collection only, to be collected from the Essentials Shop located in the Event Essex Office, on Square 4 on the Colchester Campus.

For any Southend orders, we will deliver to your accommodation on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week via the University's internal courier service.

The Essentials Shop is open year round Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Q: Where do I go to collect my items?

Q: What are the opening hours of the Essentials Shop?

A: The Essentials Shop will be open year round Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. During arrivals week (w/c 28th September, the Essentials Shop will be open additionally on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October between 12pm - 8pm.

Q: Can I buy more than one pack?

A: Yes.

Q: Can I change what’s in my pack?

A: Each pack has been designed to contain all your essentials and therefore we are unable to exchange individual items. However if you wish to make additional purchases then you can.

Q: I don’t start university for a few weeks, when should I order?

A: After 30th September 2020, the majority of students will have arrived at the University (however this is now happening in a staggered approach). However, you can order items before you arrive but all items will now need to be collected from the Essentials Shop located in the Event Essex Office, on Square 4 on the Colchester Campus. For Southend orders, we will deliver to your accommodation on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week via the University’s internal courier service.

Q: Can I order a pack after I arrive?

A: Yes, all items will have to be collected from the Essentials Shop located in the Event Essex Office, on Square 4 on the Colchester Campus. For Southend orders, we will deliver to your accommodation on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week via the University’s internal courier service.

Q: What do I do if items are broken or missing from my order?

A: Visit the Essentials Shop located in the Event Essex Office, on Square 4 on the Colchester Campus (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) or email eventessex@essex.ac.uk with your order number and details of missing/broken items. We will then investigate and arrange replacement items if necessary.

Q: What happens if you run out of stock of a particular item?

A: Where possible we will source a suitable alternative product. If we cannot source an alternative product we will contact you and refund the amount for the product.
