Only students who have shown commitment and passion are given scholarships. We are proud of you and you should be proud of receiving a scholarship.” More than 300 students are receiving scholarships this year from over 30 scholarship schemes - many supported by leading organisations, companies and charities. Scholarships have also been established by individuals with close connections with Essex or in memory of people with strong links to the University. Professor Norval, speaking at the Silberrad Student Centre, gave “heartfelt thanks” to scholarship supporters and highlighted the huge impact they have on students. This year's scholars come from around 50 different countries including the UK, China, Mexico, Nigeria, the United States, Turkey and Syria.
