The University of Essex is deeply saddened that our alumnus Chi-Man Choi was on AirAsia flight QZ8501 that went missing on Sunday.

Chi-Man graduated with a BSc in Electronic Engineering in 1988 and went on to work as a unit managing director for electronic manufacturing firm Alstom Power in Indonesia.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends, and all who knew him during his time at the University of Essex.
