Steve Pateman, Santander's Head of UK Banking

The University of Essex is hosting a special one-off free lecture by Steve Pateman, Santander’s Head of UK Banking, in November.

Santander has not only managed to survive the crisis in UK banking, but thrive through its innovative and forward-thinking approach and the lecture will be an opportunity to hear Mr Pateman’s unique insight into the economic recovery.

Central to Santander’s approach is its focus on the wider impact of its work, supporting universities, entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The free talk, titled “Our progress to economic recovery, the role of enterprise and the banks and the challenges that still lie ahead”, will be held at the University’s Colchester Campus in the Lakeside Theatre on Friday 28 November 2014 from 11am to 12 noon.

Santander UK PLC is one of the leading personal financial services companies and one of the largest providers of mortgages and savings in the UK. The bank has around 20,000 employees, 14 million active customers, over 1,000 branches and corporate business centres.

Since 2008, the University of Essex has partnered with Santander Universities, helping it deliver over 100 scholarships and awards and more than 50 internships with 90% of the students in full-time jobs as a result.

Spaces for the lecture are limited so please book in advance.
