Law and Politics student Adeseye Ogunlewe has won gold at the African Athletics Championships in Morocco.

The sprinter was part of the Nigeria men’s team which won the 4x100m relay at the competition in Marrakech.

He said: “It was great to win gold and to compete at a major championships against some of the best athletes. This is what I have worked for and it was great to compete at the best of my ability in an international competition such as this.”

Adeseye also reached the semi-finals of the 200m but had to withdraw after suffering a slight abductor problem.

Now he hopes to compete for Africa in the IAAF Continental Cup again being held in Morocco as Nigeria is likely to be picked to compete in the 4x100m relay at the event.

He said: “I want to take any opportunity to compete on the international stage and rub shoulders with the best in the world.”
