Clearing at the University has been fast and furious as would-be students have been clambering to secure places after getting their A-Level results.

The University’s Clearing hotline had to deal with an unprecedented number of calls on its first day and had to call in more staff to cope with demand.

Overall it looks like the University is on target to fill all its places with students of a very high standard.

Head of Admissions Joanne Tallentire said it was good news for the University and praised the staff who had worked so hard during clearing.

‘They have been absolutely brilliant, totally committed and have provided a good service,’ she said.
