The UK Ambassador for the Republic of Indonesia Teuku Mohammad Hamzah Thayeb paid a special visit to East 15 Acting School in Southend.

Hi Excellency watched a Balinese adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest performed by BA World Performance students under the direction of visiting lecturer the distinguished Balinese Dalang (master-puppeteer), scholar and dancer Professor Nyoman Sedana from Institut Seni Indonesia (the Indonesian Institute of the Arts) in Denpasar.

East 15 Director Professor Leon Rubin and course leaders met the Ambassador during his visit. Professor Rubin is an expert in Balinese theatre and co-wrote Performance in Bali, with Professor Sedana.

East 15's BA World Performance is a unique course with an international reputation which attracts students from around the world. The course covers performance forms, traditions and styles stretching across Europe to, Asia, Africa and North and South America.
