 Ten Essex subjects are ranked in the top 25 in the UK in The Complete University Guide, published today.

Overall, the University is ranked in 39th position, out of 123 universities. It is ranked in the top ten for both research and student satisfaction.

Essex is in the top 20 for Politics, American Studies, History of Art, Sports Science, Marketing, Linguistics and Drama, Dance and Cinematics. Additionally, Sociology, Philosophy and Electrical and Electronic Engineering are ranked in the top 25 in their respective subject tables.

The tables are published just days after Essex was ranked 22nd in the latest Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 ranking of the world’s best young universities. The University came third out of all the UK universities in the ranking.

In an interview with theTimes Higher Education, Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Forster explained that: "Having an impact on the world is not about tradition and history - it's about relevance in the contemporary world."
