Hay Man Oo is a Chevening scholar from Myanmar who chose the University of Essex after being inspired by a talk by Dr Andrew Fagan, Director of Postgraduate Studies at the Human Rights Centre.

He is now studying MA Theory and Practice of Human Rights at Essex and plans to return to Myanmar to work in the human rights field - particularly the interface with business - with the London-based Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB).

He said: "As the political situation is opening up investors are eyeing up our country for business prospects. We lack the legal framework in the sector of human rights and this is an area which is very important for protecting people and providing guidelines."
