Our scholarship students celebrate their success at reception
More than 100 talented students came together for the Undergraduate Scholars’ Reception at Wivenhoe House hotel.
The event was a chance to celebrate the achievements of our students and encouraging networking while also thanking donors for their contribution, generosity and support.
Close to 300 undergraduate students have received scholarships based on their outstanding academic achievements and all were invited to the special reception attended by senior staff including the Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Forster, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Wright and Registrar Bryn Morris.
The scholarships programme at Essex aims to ensure everyone with the potential to succeed can enjoy the benefits of an Essex education, regardless of their financial circumstances. The programme includes Academic Excellence Scholarships, Bellerbys Scholarships, the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship, Wellcome Trust Scholarships and Wivenhoe Bursaries.
Those attending came from across the UK and throughout the world including Bangladesh, Cyprus, Finland, Gambia, Germany, Greece, India, Latvia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain and the United States.
