Philosopher Professor Wayne Martin has been discussing 'free will' at The Philosopher’s Arms - Radio 4’s “entirely conceptual drinking establishment”.

On the show, presenter Matthew Sweet goes to the pub to discuss philosophical puzzles over a pint with a panel of experts.

As one of the star guests Professor Martin explained the roots of the concept of 'free will' and how it emerged within Christian thought through the writings of St Augustine and its position within modern philosophy. He also discussed the ideas of criminal responsibility, mental capacity and how we make decisions in modern life.
