Ice cream helps deliver 'stay cool' message for clearing

Colchester Sixth Form College

Colchester sixth formers visit our ice cream stall

The University of Essex has been handing out ice creams to students at Colchester Sixth Form College, Suffolk One in Ipswich and Seevic College in Southend today (Thursday 15 August) with the message ‘stay cool’ after picking up your exam results.

The ice creams are to remind students that if they did not get the results they hoped for or perhaps exceeded their expectations there are still places at Essex available through clearing and adjustment.

One delighted student tweeted: “Thank you to @Uni_of_Essex for the ice-cream outside the Sixth Form College. Lovely touch that made lots of stressed out students smile!”

The University, which this week came second in the UK for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS), hopes the gifts will act as a reminder to students that they still have plenty of options open to them.

The University has a small number of places on most of our degree courses for able and well qualified students who wish to seek a place after receiving their exam results.

Students are encouraged to contact us to discuss their course requirements and grades, whether these exceed or are below their expectations. Our Clearing Telephone Hotline number is 01206 873666 or go to: www.essex.ac.uk/clearing
