Insight into the world of 'Big Data'

‘Big Data’ is the theme behind a free informal event for businesses organised by the University at Tech City in London on Wednesday 19 June 2013.

This event will also showcase what the University’s researchers can offer and how they can connect with businesses.

This event is an opportunity for businesses to find out about the University’s strengths and expertise and what opportunities exist for collaboration between education and industry to develop new technologies.

The Head of the University’s School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering will outline areas of technical expertise and where they can help growing companies meet new market opportunities.

There will also be a special presentation about the University’s leading role in ‘Big Data’ and how they have developed innovative intelligent data search techniques for different applications.

Professor Massimo Poesio will give a presentation on ‘Text Mining’ in digital libraries and social media. He is a cognitive scientist who studies language and knowledge using a combination of computational methods and methods from linguistics, psychology and the neural sciences.

The event is from 6pm-8pm and concludes with light refreshments and the opportunity for networking with University staff and students.
