Indian university joins forces with Essex for research on creating a framework for global Masters programmes

The University of Essex and Shiv Nadar University in north India have set up a joint research initiative to produce a framework for creating innovative global Masters programmes.

The project will investigate and recommend a regulatory, academic and support framework for developing courses while also identifying the joint initiatives needed to introduce international Masters degrees.

The work is being supported by a grant from the British Council under the Knowledge Enterprise Partnerships scheme.

The key areas for investigation and evaluation will be:

  • Using innovative technologies to provide effective distance learning, with distance co-supervision and remote ‘synchronous’ and ‘asynchronous’ teaching activities.
  • Integrating academic with co‐curricula activities such as work placements and other work-based experiences.
  • Utilising of the proposed framework and technologies to set up a joint masters programme in Mathematical Finance.

The development of the joint Masters programme will involve the Department of Mathematics and the Institute for Innovations and Inventions in Mathematics and IT (IIIMIT) from the Shiv Nadar University in partnership with various departments at the University of Essex including the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Department of Economics, School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, the Finance group at Essex Business School and the Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents (CCFEA).

The joint research project will help the seamless creation of all future collaborative international degree programmes by Shiv Nadar University.
