As part of the US Embassy’s visiting speakers program, well-known political commentator Dr Victoria DeFrancesco Soto will be giving a free public talk at the University of Essex this month about the forthcoming 2012 Presidential Election.

Dr DeFrancesco Soto will give her talk, titled ‘The Roller Coaster Ride to the White House: The 2012 Presidential Election’, at the University’s Colchester Campus on 14 March.

A well-known political commentator in the United States, Dr DeFrancesco Soto makes routine appearances on Sunday morning talk shows, and is a regular guest commentator on MSNBC and CNN Español. Her research analyses how social identities shape political behaviour. Her academic interest focuses on campaigns and elections, political marketing, race and ethnic politics, and immigration.

The talk will take place on Wednesday, 14 March in LTB3 from 1.30pm-3.00pm. The event is free but please e-mail events@essex.ac.uk to book your place as spaces are limited.
