Beat bullying with a brushstroke

Colchester Campus

The University’s Equality and Diversity Unit are running a poster competition for local youngsters aged between 4 and 18.

The competition supports the Vice Chancellor's initiative to promote dignity and respect and marks Anti Bullying Week, which runs from 17-21 November. To take part, the young people must design an A3 poster. This can be portrait or landscape and in any medium (which may include drawing, painting, collage, computer-generated, photograph etc) on the theme of bullying. There are prizes for both the winning entry and, if entering through a school or group, the winning entrant's school or group.

The issue of bullying is part of the National Curriculum and information about the competition has been sent to schools across the region. The competition is also open to individuals and other groups, such as Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts, are encouraged to take part.

Two prizes will be awarded in the primary school category (age 4-7 and age 8-11) and two in the secondary school category (age 11-14 and age 15-18). Winning entries will be displayed at the University’s Colchester Campus and may be used in future campaigns to highlight dignity and respect.

Posters should have the entrant's full name, age and school/group/home address on the back. They must be submitted before Friday 21 November to: Equality and Diversity Unit, Room 4SA.6.8, University of Essex, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester CO4 3SQ.
