Top industry award for University magazine

The November 2011 issue of Essex Quarterly

Leading communications professionals have awarded the University’s news magazine, Essex Quarterly, top prize in the External Newspaper or Magazine category of leading regional industry awards.

Essex Quarterly, which showcases research and how it addresses challenges faced by society, partnerships with the business and arts communities, and major achievements and developments, scooped the award at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) East Anglian PRide Awards. It beat off stiff competition in what is one of the most hotly-contested categories. Judges commented that: "Every element of the magazine was carefully considered including, design, photography, feel and context which combined with clearly defined objectives and outcomes led to this entry being awarded gold."

The November issue of Essex Quarterly is out now and available across the University’s three campuses. Highlights of this issue include feature articles about University ecologists and their work studying the rich Essex coastline, an interview with the Director of the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America, and a look at the real Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins, by witchcraft expert Dr Alison Rowlands.

The November issue is also available to read online at : www.essex.ac.uk/essex_quarterly/.
