Conference to pay tribute to Kevin Boyle

Colchester Campus

The School of Law and the Human Rights Centre will celebrate the life and work of Professor Kevin Boyle with a memorial conference on 26 November 2011. It will take place in the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall at the Colchester Campus.

Professor Boyle is remembered as an eminent and influential international human rights lawyer, scholar and activist.

The event pays tribute to his legacy in all these areas by focusing on those fields of human rights that were of special importance to him, such as freedom of expression and religion, minority rights, democracy and human rights, and states of emergency.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, will open the conference and will be followed by keynote speaker, Mary Robinson, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 to 2002 and former President of Ireland.

The conference is open to the public. For more information, e-mail: kevinmemorial@essex.ac.uk. Anyone interested in attending the conference should register by e-mail.
