Students who have been making an impact during their time at Essex are being encouraged to enter this year’s Big e Awards by Friday 6 May.

Nominations are being sought from outstanding students who have been developing important workplace skills through volunteering, working, getting involved in University life or developing enterprising new ideas.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Peer Support
  • Work Related Learning
  • Frontrunners
  • Enterprise
  • Student Activity
  • Student Employee
  • Volunteering
  • Student Ambassador/Champion

Student Enterprise Manager Charlie Wheeldon said: “There are many talented students at Essex and the Big e Awards are designed to recognise their hard work.

“We want to reward students who have made an important contribution to the life of the University while also developing skills which will mean they will be well placed to be a success in whatever career they go into.

“The Big e Awards reward students who have made a positive impact through the diverse roles they have taken on while at Essex.”

The awards are open to all students. Nominations can be made by the students themselves but applications which include a supporting statement from a referee will carry more weight with the judging panel.

Shortlisted finalists for this Big e Award will receive an invitation to the University of Essex’s Big e Awards ceremony on Thursday 9 June.

The winners of each category will be presented with their award by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan.
