Public welcome to conference on growing power of big business
Colchester Campus
The growing influence of major corporations on people’s everyday lives will be the focus of a public symposium being hosted by Essex Business School at the University of Essex’s Colchester Campus at 1.30pm on Friday 28 January.
Speakers from across the country will discuss three issues in particular: the impact of corporations on biodiversity, accidents at work and human rights.
Director of the University’s Centre for Global Accountability Professor Prem Sikka said: “This is another example of the way the University engages with the community and leads debates on important emerging issues.”
The speakers are Professor Christine Cooper from the University of Strathclyde, Professor Jill Solomon from King’s College London, Professor Mike Jones from the University of Bristol and Professor Sikka.
The event is open to members of the public and designed to encourage debate about corporate social responsibility and accountability.
Those wishing to attend should contact Lesley Baker via email on lesleyb@essex.ac.uk, or phone 01206 872364.
