Professor Michael Sherer has been appointed as the new Director of the Essex Business School at the University of Essex.

The School, which brings together the expertise of the University staff in Accounting, Finance and Management and Entrepreneurship and Business, and is based at both the Colchester and Southend campuses, offers a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

Michael Sherer, who is Professor of Accounting and Auditing, said: 'Our industry links across the public and private sectors and our international focus mean Essex Business School is able to offer distinctive learning and research opportunities.'

A range of MBAs is being developed which will build on Essex's long history of critical and innovative research in this area. These MBAs will cover many of the important issues facing modern organisations in the private and public sector, including governance and accountability, corporate social responsibility, the environment and sustainability.

Flexible delivery methods will mean that MBAs are accessible to senior executives, enabling them to fit their studies around their work. In addition, Essex Business School will offer a variety of short courses to meet the training needs of large, medium and small employers in the region.
