Work on the University’s colourful new student accommodation at Southend Campus is now complete.

Finished three weeks ahead of schedule, the new accommodation offers high quality accomodation to students starting in October.

Andrew Nightingale, Director of Estate Management, said: 'I am extremely pleased with the way Hollybrook has managed the construction process. It is a great credit to them that they have delivered ahead of schedule a project which we are delighted with.

'This is particularly helpful as it enables us to now fit out the buildings and get them ready for when students arrive for the new academic year. It will be very reassuring to students - and their parents - to know work on their accommodation has been fully completed as they prepare to start their new life at university.'

The development of the 561-room University Square includes cluster kitchens, study rooms together with many green and sustainable features. These include
using recycled rainwater to flush toilets, rape seed oil boilers and heat recovery in the kitchen spaces.

Students beginning courses in October can still apply to live in the new accommodation. For more information, follow the link below: http://www.essex.ac.uk/accommodation/Southend/accommodation.shtm.
