Dr Liz Kuti from the Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies has helped create a heart-warming Christmas performance at Hampton Court Palace in London.

The family tale is set at the court of Queen Elizabeth I and will be performed around Hampton Court Palace in London untiol 1 January 2017. Visitors will be able to follow the action from the Tudor Kitchens to the Great Hall.

Award-winning playwright and writer-in-residence at Hampton Court Palace, Dr Kuti has written the show especially for the festive season with the touching story unfolding over four theatrical scenes, full of music, singing and festive fun. Her words have been brought to life by a team of leading theatre makers including director Tom Latter.

The Hampton Court Palace website says: "Queen Elizabeth I and her court are at Hampton Court Palace for the festive season. The pressure is on for the Queen’s Master of Revels, Edmund Tilney, to arrange a celebration to remember. Disaster strikes as he finds himself without his star chorister hours before the performance for the demanding Queen. Will Tom, the kitchen boy be allowed to save the day?

"Throughout the day the royal cooks in the bustling Tudor Kitchens will be roasting meat and making bespoke Tudor desserts, and musicians will be playing festive music around the Palace."
