American Studies at Essex ranked number one in the country for student satisfaction

The latest National Student Survey (NSS) results show American Studies at Essex is once again ranked at the very top for student satisfaction.

100% of students studying American Studies – part of the Interdisciplinary Studies Centre at Essex - said they were satisfied with the course in the National Student Survey released this week.

This NSS category also includes students studying Latin American Studies at Essex.

Essex has been a major teaching and research institution for American Studies since the University was founded in 1964. The undergraduate single and joint-honours courses and postgraduate opportunities are built on almost fifty years’ experience in the study of the US.

Director of American Studies at Essex Dr Matt Lodder said: “I'm proud that every single one of our graduating students have once again declared their satisfaction for our unique American Studies degree.

“As one of the degrees offered by our Interdisciplinary Studies Centre, students are able to build a customised programme of study, following their interests and career plans in order to build the perfect degree for them. It's this high degree of personalisation, combined with our excellent research-lead teaching, which ensures all our marvellous students leave Essex with such high regard for their time with us."

The Interdisciplinary Study Centre offers a number of courses, alongside American Studies, which cut across disciplines. This includes European Studies, Global Studies, Latin American Studies and Liberal Arts.
