East 15 shows hit the Edinburgh Fringe

East 15 Acting School graduates are creating more incredible productions for the Edinburgh Fringe than ever before and in preparation they have been receiving extra help with fundraising, mentoring and business advice.

Companies with East 15 links heading to the Edinburgh Fringe and other top festivals have taken advantage of the groundbreaking crowdfunding platform Click managed by the University of Essex’s Advancement team and the East 15 Graduate New Company Award launched by the Employability and Careers Centre.

East 15 shows raise thousands through Click

East 15 students and graduates have raised more than £10,000 through Click with six shows opening at the Fringe this summer.
The Click platform is aimed at funding big ideas and exciting projects from the University’s best and brightest students, staff and alumni.

The shows which have benefited from Click this year are:

East 15 Graduate New Company Award backs shows in Edinburgh, Camden and New York

The University’s Employability and Careers Centre has also supported Edinburgh bound shows through the East 15 Graduate New Company Award 2016.

The nine awards available provide financial support of up to £4,000, enterprise guidance and advice, and access to a professional mentor. They are designed to help graduates establish their own production companies and successful applicants are expected to stage at least one full professional theatre production within six months of receiving the award.

Award winners included The Outbound Project which is taking The Mission [https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/mission] to the Edinburgh Fringe plus Fat Rascal Theatre, Theatre, Apparently, Superglue Assembly Line, Willis & Vere and Stay Up Late Collective.

The East 15 Graduate New Company Award has also supported Capataro Theatre Company which is taking Glaucoma to the Camden Fringe Festival and Out of Hours Theatre Company which will also be at Camden this month with Breakaway

Meanwhile over in New York the Barrington Collective is performing at the NYC Fringe with Reconciling.

They are following in wake of the success of the Rooted Moon International Theatre and Arts Festival in Sardinia held in July this year.

Funding is still available and the deadline is Friday 12 August.

Other East 15 shows and workshops

If you are in Edinburgh you’ll also be able to catch some other East 15 shows including Blush by
Snuff Box Theatre
in association with Underbelly Untapped and Ladies in Waiting: The Judgement of Henry VIII by Tier 5 Theatre Project.

East 15 is also running events and workshops at Fringe Central designed to help and support those involved in the Fringe. East 15 teams will be contributing to the Fringe Central programme Movement and Voice Workouts, Puppetry and Animation Workshop, Postgraduate Pathways to the Profession, Training in the UK for Internationals and Building Robustness; How To Deal with “No” – a Survivors guide to the Theatre industry.
