Twilight opportunity to find out about postgraduate study
The University will be holding a Postgraduate Open Day at the Colchester Campus on Wednesday 11 November 2009 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
The University has held Postgraduate Open Days for a number of years but this new early evening timeslot has been designed to give people currently in full-time employment an opportunity to attend.
Victoria Bartholomew, from the University’s Marketing and Student Recruitment Office, explains: ‘Staff from each department will be present to answer any questions that visitors have about a course or research programme offered by the University. The Open Day is also a great way for people to see University facilities and talk to current postgraduates about their studies and life at Essex.
‘The University is an excellent choice for postgraduate study and was rated ninth nationally for research excellence following the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in December 2008. Postgraduate study is offered across the humanities, social sciences, science and engineering, and law and management, with programmes designed to equip students with the skills demanded by today’s employers in the highly competitive world of work.’
The Postgraduate Open Day, which will take place in the University’s state-of-the-art Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall, will include talks on topics such as life as a postgraduate at Essex, how to apply for a postgraduate course or research programme and how to finance further study.
