Saturday 31 October marks 1,000 days until the start of the London 2012 Olympics. 

To get the countdown started, the University of Essex Sports Centre is encouraging its members to get active.

All Sports Centre members who take part in a sporting activity at the Colchester Campus Sports Centre until 31 October will have the chance to enter a free prize draw. Prizes on offer include a Christmas hamper, 2 free season tickets to performances at the University’s Lakeside Theatre and gift cards for Waterstone’s Bookshop.

There is also an added incentive to improve your fitness levels as the Centre are offering a prize to the group that includes the 1000th person to be inducted to the fitness room. Public membership to the fitness room starts from just £21 per month (standing order) plus a £14 Sports Centre membership fee.
