Payment of tuition fee deposits

Information for applicants that need a Student visa to study in the UK

If you did not apply to us via UCAS, you are usually required to pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit before you will be assigned a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) so that you can make a Student visa application. Overseas Postgraduate students will see the annual fee and the minimum deposit required in their myEssex applicant portal.

Online payments

You can pay your deposit online, below, using a credit or debit card. You may make several smaller payments to the total value of the minimum deposit.

The online payment facility can also be used to pay tuition fees.

Alternative ways to pay


Due to the recent pandemic, the banks appear to have put further security restrictions on making payments online.

It may be because it is a large amount. Please try again making a smaller payment to see if this is successful. If not you may need to contact your bank.
