English classes for dependants of international students and staff (ECDIS)

We offer dependants of students and staff at the University of Essex, Colchester Campus, the chance to improve their English language through our ECDIS programme. The classes, which take place at the Colchester Campus, will enable you to meet people from other countries and cultures and will help you develop your language skills and learn about UK society. These classes are free.

The classes are taught at three basic levels: Beginner/Elementary, Lower Intermediate/Intermediate and Upper Intermediate/Advanced and the main focus will be on listening, speaking, and reading at your level with some limited focus on writing skills. We also hold a weekly social English session, open to all ECDIS students, at which you will have the opportunity to practise your English conversation skills and discuss topics relating to life in Britain.
