1:1 Adviser appointments

The TDC Helpdesk is the base for our 1:1 academic advising. The TDC advising team offers both drop-in and bookable half-hour sessions (1:1 or small-group) in all areas related to your academic studies here.

Our advisers can guide you on academic writing style, reading skills, note-taking, giving presentations, time management, referencing skills and more – the skills you need to succeed in your coursework. Our language tutors can help you develop your English grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and general skills. We can also refer you to useful support resources.

What we can help you with

  • Assignment preparation

We can help you prioritise reading lists, take efficient notes, plan an assignment or prepare a seminar presentation.

  • Assignment presentation

We can help you set out in-text references, quotations and bibliographies.

  • Organisation, structure and arguments

We can help you work on organisation and argument structure in your writing.

  • Language, style and expression

Our advisers are trained English language and academic writing specialists and can help you with the 'nuts and bolts' of sentence structuring, punctuation, grammar and style.

  • Non-academic texts (emails, letters, filling in forms)

We're happy to help with short texts such as important email messages, letters, study-related forms or applications. We're unable to help with immigration forms, but our International Services Team provide guidance and advice about the immigration process.

We are unable to proofread an entire text for you.
