Things to do on arrivals day

  • Collect your accommodation keycard

    Colchester

    When you arrive, there's lot to do - but the first thing is to collect your keycard if you'll be living in University accommodation, then get moving your stuff in! Know where to go to collect your keycard.

    Southend

    When you arrive in Southend you will need to collect your keys from University Square reception, which is open 24 hours a day.

    Our Residence Life team will help you settle in and support you during your time living on campus. They can also help if you've got any concerns or complaints.

    Registration is when you become an official student member of the University, for life!

    You must register in person when you arrive so that you can start your course.

  • Get involved in sport

    Essex Sport is for those who want to be the best and for those who want to do the best they can. There are a number of ways you can get involved in sport at Essex.

    Our first class Evolve Gym and fitness studios are designed to inspire and motivate you in keeping fit. The gym has over 180 state-of-the-art fitness stations in a light, spacious and fully air-conditioned environment.

    Gym facilities in Loughton

    Just 20 minutes walk from the campus is the Loughton Leisure Centre just off the town’s main shopping area. This public sports centre has swimming pools, a fitness suite and exercise classes.

    At times you may need a little help to you settle in, so make the most of our support services.


  • Register to vote

    If you’re eligible to vote in UK local and general elections, you’ll need to make sure you’re on the electoral register once you’ve settled into your accommodation, using your new address. Don’t miss your chance to have your say – join the UK electoral register online.
