Masters scholarships

Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarships

Our Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarship supports overseas students from specified countries who are funding their own studies at the University of Essex. We are offering a scholarship worth up to £4,000 if your grades in your first degree are equivalent to a UK first class degree.

PhD studentships

South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) studentships

The South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) will be replacing the Essex ESRC DTC for the 2017 intake and beyond. SeNSS is one of 14 new Doctoral Training Partnerships funded by the ESRC, beginning in 2017-18. SeNSS awards studentships across the partner organisations, including Essex.

Faculty and departmental studentships

Throughout the year we advertise research degree studentships. These often come with a pre-approved title and supervisor and may be funded.

We do not currently have any open studentships.

PhD: On the purpose of cognitive reflection

This PhD studentship, funded as part of a Leverhulme Trust grant, aims to understand how people use reflection when solving word problems.

We are looking for candidates with at least an undergraduate degree in psychology, as well as experience in experimental research and quantitative analysis.
