The Big Bang @ Essex 2018

The national Big Bang programme is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people in the UK. It was established by Engineering UK (EUK) in 2009.

We have delivered The Big Bang @ The University of Essex since 2013, hosting schools from across Essex, Suffolk and East London.

What will the day involve?

The Big Bang @ The University of Essex is a one-day event for Year 9 students, and this year, will centre round the theme of ‘Important Discoveries in STEM’. We are able to accommodate a maximum of 30 students from each school.

All schools will attend two workshops, visit our interactive STEM Marketplace and attend our headline show. Each school will have an individual programme tailored to their interests, with schools pre-selecting an assortment of workshops before the event.

Your school will also be allocated a student ambassador who will be your main point of contact throughout the day.

Last year’s space-themed event was truly out of this world! With Marketplace exhibitors including Anglian Water, EDF Energy, Google Expeditions, the Royal Air Force and Stansted Airport, as well as The Science Museum’s Intergalactic Supermassive Space Show as our headliner, all our attendees had a real blast…
