Arts education

We demonstrate how interdisciplinary arts experiences enhance learning in authentic and meaningful ways, for students of all ages and from all backgrounds.

We believe in using the arts to encourage people to be bold and inquisitive about the world, no matter what you’re interested in. We ignite imaginations and challenge expectations through our ground-breaking projects for all learners.

Cultural Outreach module for Essex students

The module is taught in the School of Philosophy and Art History. Students learn about the cultural sector and gain real hands-on experiences in education as part of their degree.

The module nurtures talent, improves confidence, and teaches important transferable work and life skills. A combination of supportive seminars, one-to-ones and hands-on-workshops means students can complete their Arts Award Gold Level, as this has been embedded throughout their employability module.

After successfully completing the 1st year module students can take part in the 2nd year module which includes a placement at a local cultural organisation. In the 3rd year, students apply the knowledge they’ve gained to develop their own enhanced project for a local cultural organisation.

Our work with schools and colleges

We offer a variety of opportunities to primary and secondary schools and colleges. We work alongside our academics, Art Exchange, ESCALA and the Lakeside Theatre. Our activities strengthen and deepen schools’ experiences with a wide range of tailored artistic programmes, exposing students to high-quality arts experiences and artistic facilities.

Schools in and around the Colchester region can access our programme in order to initiate exciting partnerships and new possibilities. Our programmes also support schools with their Artsmark journey.
