Students will continue to progress their generic and physiotherapy-specific skills, building on their practical experiences at earlier levels of study. This module is designed to enable students to further expand their ability to practice effectively and independently within the practice-based setting and to consolidate their learning by experiencing more complex patient problems. The module therefore prepares students to take up the role of independent and autonomous practitioners.
Students will manage increasingly larger caseloads and more complex patient problems with minimal supervision. They will be required to justify their clinical reasoning and associated decision-making, using reflection and relevant evidence. There will also be a focus on autonomy in practice and demonstration of ability and willingness to continue their professional development after qualification.
By the end of the module, students will be expected to:
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate health and safety legislation into practice and fulfil all responsibilities related to legal, ethical and local considerations of professional practice, including non- discriminatory practice.
- Demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes of the level 6 Physiotherapy Placement (CPAF) assessment form.

Students are expected to undertake a minimum of 35 hours of placement activity per week; each placement is 5 weeks in length.
Moodle resources are available throughout the module, these include teaching material, mandatory training courses, online discussion forums, quizzes etc.
Journals and e books are available through the university library.
Access to professional resources such as the CSP and CSPs online eportfolio and HCPC resources are available to students online.
A half-way visit will be scheduled by the programme team
Practical skills are a large part of physiotherapy practice and form a significant part of student's development. Placement experience provides the optimum arena to practise and develop these skills.
