Module description

TThis is a final year module at the end of which, you are expected to achieve a Mastery level C1-C2 in Italian as described in the Common European Framework (CEFR).

THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS MODULE ARE:
To reach a near native speaker standard of spoken and written language for the purpose of discussing and analysing complex social issues and ideas.
To develop your linguistic awareness and usage of varieties of spoken and written Italian (e.g. colloquial, narrative, academic, journalistic).
To help you acquire good knowledge of Italian culture and civilisation with emphasis on history, literature (especially the 20th century), politics, cinema, art and society.
In this module you will make extensive use of authentic and online materials
At the end of the course students should be able to:
-Critically analyse Italian contemporary fiction as well as complex specialised and non-specialised texts.
-Write in Italian reports, summaries, essays etc. using different registers
-Take part in discussion and delivered structured and clear presentations in Italian.
-You will also have developed transferable study skills such as independent learning, critical, analytical thinking, problem-solving, team-working, planning and delivering oral presentations, time-management, use of electronic media
