Key module for

BA R9R1 European Studies with French

Module description

This module is designed to help you cope successfully with your Year (or vacation period) Abroad. The emphasis will be on vocabulary acquisition, the use of specific language functions, the consolidation of grammatical knowledge, and the ongoing development of all language skills. The main topics, apart from the Year Abroad, are French-speaking humour, socio-political issues in the news and marketing in the media. There is a collection of short stories and one set book to be read and studied. We will focus on creative writing in relation to the short stories and will then introduce you to more structured prose writing (such as commentaires on the set book). You will also participate in a number of assessed filmed role-plays.
