This module explores the essential requirement for adult nurses to be fit for practice and purpose to enter the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register. The module focuses on embedding the combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes required, as well as the ability to appraise contemporary professional and contextual issues in nursing care and service provision.

The module will combine a range of approaches to teaching and learning, with a view to facilitating autonomous learning and integrating theory and practice. Transferable skills-focussed practical workshops will have an emphasis on peer learning and assessment. Case study analysis will provide authentic examples of strategies for embedding best practice in complex scenarios. Interactive lectures will introduce key concepts and be supplemented with online learner-led discussion. Experiential learning in practice with experienced health practitioners is expected to form a core component of learning
