Module description

The registered nurse, in whatever work setting, has a significant role in managing resources, including people, time and physical resources. This module prepares students for their role as a leader and manager of nursing care in the clinical setting. It encourages students to see the wider sphere of health care policy in relation to clinical practice as a registered practitioner

Learning and teaching methods

Overview: This module will make use of lectures to introduce key concepts, individual tutorials, as negotiated between student and academic supervisors, experiential learning in practice-based placements. Course tutors and other current practitioners provide the lectures, and practical sessions, ensuring that students have the opportunity to gain up to date knowledge and relate learning to the clinical setting. Learning is student-centred and client-focused with an emphasis on clinical practice. Lectures: PowerPoint presentations will be available for all sessions. Links to useful information to assist students will be available. News and discussion forums will be used where appropriate Independent: There is self-directed study incorporated into the timetable to enable students to achieve the required criteria Placement: The student will be required to pass year 3 nursing placements Tutorials: Tutorials may be arranged with personal tutors for guidance with essay and presentation
