This module explores the principles and practice of caring for people with on-going mental health issues. The module focuses on the nursing interventions, treatment options, and skills of communication. It takes into account the legal and ethical issues surrounding community and hospital care, with consideration to the lived experience of service users and carers. A bio-psycho-social approach will be taken to ensure the student understands the nature of on-going mental health issues, causes and treatment options, based on the principles of recovery including physical health needs.
