This module develops the students abilities to use skills of communication, numeracy, literacy, information and communications technology, and research in the transition to independence in learning. These skills will underpin both academic study and clinical practice contexts

Overview:
The module will combine a number of different teaching approaches. Learning through participation in individual and group activities, computer based and library based work, VLE and use of feedback on draft work.
All module reading material will be tested for its readability using the Standard Measure Of Gobbledegook (SMOG) test. No reading material will exceed a SMOG measure of 15 (above Level 2 adult literacy). Time within lessons shall be allocated for students to read key texts and discuss findings. Time within lessons will be allocated for students to complete essential practical paperwork and evaluate their success.
Lectures:
A variety of group work and interactive learning methods are employed. All classroom information is supported on the VLE.
Independent:
All independent learning is guided. Students are required to complete a range of formative activities to ensure that they meet the learning outcomes

All online work is managed via the VLE and monitored
Tutorials:
Additional workshops and morning drop in sessions are provided to students to support their learning and allow them supervision in areas that require development.
