Learning and teaching methods

Overview: Learning and teaching on this module utilises many different approaches. Firstly, classroom based interactive lectures that focus on learning new information, developing an awareness of constructs and concepts and the development of an understanding of the language used in research. Secondly, an experiential approach which encourages interprofessional collaboration through the use of project design and data gathering. Thirdly, tutorial sessions allowing learners to 'test out' their thinking prior to committing themselves to producing the small reports required for the assessment. Lastly, self-directed learning which allows learners to; access the resources on the virtual learning environment, access the library and develop a collaborative approach to learning in small groups. Lectures: Introducing concepts of research and evidence-based practice Practicing methods and techniques of data analysis Independent: Participation in Moodle-based interprofessional research and group fora Accessing data bases and core research texts using library resources Collecting, transcribing and analysing data Preparation of assignments Online: Participation on Moodle-based inter-professional research and group fora Tutorials: There are a number of opportunities for assignment tutorials: individual and group. Tutorials are negotiated with learners re. their content and format.
