Module description

This module introduces students to the practice of sports therapy. Professionalism and ethics related to sports therapy are explored and the obligations and responsibilities of working as a sports therapist examined. Communication and the use of interpersonal skills to collect information are explored. The importance of record keeping is discussed. First aid and remedial sports massage techniques are learned. The concept of the reflective practitioner is introduced.

Module information

The first year of the sports therapy degree provides the students with the necessary underpinning knowledge and fundamental skills to become a sports therapist. Assessments focus on the students being able to demonstrate the required knowledge base to become a sports therapist.

Learning and teaching methods

A range of learning and teaching methods will be used supported by the use of moodle.
