This module runs across all three years of the History degree and is designed to help students reflect upon, and develop, plans and skills for their careers after graduating.
The module is compulsory for all History undergraduate students (single and joint honours) but is designed not to be onerous; students attend 4-6 timetabled workshops/group tutorials each academic year and complete 4 tasks per year in their HR510 Careers Portfolio.
The aims of this module are:
- To develop your understanding of the current job market.
- To help you hone the skills you need to get a job (e.g. CV-writing, applications).
- To consider alternatives to graduate job schemes (eg: post-graduate study, freelancing, SMEs etc).
By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:
- Reflect on their skills and interests and how they develop throughout the degree.
- Understand the variety of career options available to them and how to research them.
- Master key skills such as writing applications and career planning.
- Find and apply for job and post-graduate study opportunities.
