This module will provide you with core knowledge and skills in designing a proposal and pitching it in a presentation to an external client. The module aims to develop your understanding of the process of winning a contract from an event client, including taking a brief, research skills, preparing a proposal document and pitching your proposal to the external client.
This module aims to enable you to:
1. Evaluate the critical issues determining the requirements for an event.
- Recognise the skills required to take a client brief;
- Develop an understanding of procurement processes;
- Acquire detailed knowledge of the processes involved with bidding for an event.
2. Demonstrate critical research skills in preparation of a creative proposal document.
- Demonstrate research skills in the preparation of an event proposal;
- Demonstrate financial accountability skills in the preparation of an event budget;
- Show design and creative elements required in an event proposal document.
3. Show an understanding of the planning processes of an event.
- Identify industry best practice;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the planning process of events.
4. Demonstrate the necessary skills in presenting a creative proposal pitch.
- Possess the necessary skills to effectively present a pitch to a client;
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team;
- Show design and creative elements required in an event pitch presentation.
At the conclusion of this module you should be able to:
1. Evaluate the critical issues determining the requirements for an event;
2. Demonstrate critical research skills in preparation of a creative proposal document;
3. Show an understanding of the planning processes of an event;
4. Demonstrate the necessary skills in presenting a creative proposal pitch.

Learning and teaching will take the shape of either classroom based or online lectures and seminars where Wivenhoe House will be used to contextualize theory and illustrate practice. Self-managed learning will supplement seminars where you will be provided with guidance on required reading and on-line learning resources.
