MA W40E12 Advanced Professional Theatre Practice
This module offers students an intensive group practical experience, during which they create and perform a short piece of original devised theatre or film. Students may apply for permission to be assessed for this module through a professional theatre project produced off campus if the school deems that the learning outcomes are still met. In such a case, the practical work stemming from the project will have to be presented in video form for means of assessment.
This is a collaborative project which willstart with on-line forums before a period of intensive attendance and then put together over the intensive period at Loughton campus.
This module aims to allow students to experiment with and apply ideas and processes explored in the previous modules of study. Intensive group work over a two-week period enables students to test their technical, analytical, and collaborativeskills, and to extend their reflective writing practice; the project also gives students an opportunity to develop ideas they may use in the Final Project. The students will be presented with a theme around which to create a collaborative theatre / film project –either as a large group or a section of smaller groups.
1. Make a substantial contribution to the creation and realisation of a collaborative theatre performance.
2. Use skills in negotiation, time management and planning to complete a complex project to a professional standard.
3. Articulate their creative ideas clearly and effectively to a peer group.
4. Apply at last one theoretical approach to the making, analysis or reception of live performance in reflecting on the creative processes.
5. Document their own creative process, including a reflection on an audit of their own skills and knowledge as applied to the project.
